Bulindi Zonal Agricultural Research and development institute (BUZARDi) is one the public agricultural research institutes established by National Agricultural Research Act of Parliament (19 of 2005, section 28).
The goal of the institute is to improve live hoods of rural communities by contributing to sustainable improvement of agricultural production and income generation through delivery of relevant technologies.
The goal of the institute is in line with NARS Vision ‘’ Market responsive ,client –oriented and demand driven National Agricultural Research System comprising public and private institutions working in tandem for the sustainable economic growth of Uganda’’.
The institute is mandated to conduct applied adaptive agricultural research in the Mid Western agro ecological Zone of Uganda under the policy guidance of NARO.
While conducting its activities, the institute take into consideration the thematic focus as well as Result Approach.
Bulindi ZARDI has a mandate to conduct research in the following 9 districts namely; Kyenjojo, Masindi, Hoima, Kasese, Fortportal, Bundibugyo, Bulisa, Kamwenge and Kibale.
BUZARDI employs both scientists and support staff to carry out its activities.
ADMINISTRATION
BUZARDI is headed by the Director appointed by NAROSEC and assisted by technical staff both scientists and support staff. And at the apex, there is management committee as the over seer of Research activities.
STAFFING LEVELS OF THE INSTITUTE
BUZARDI currently employs 29 NARO staff where there are 9 Scientists, 8 Technicians and 12 support staff. In addiction the 29 above, it also employs project staff and casual labourers.
